Keeping your old data…

Note: You only need to read this section if you’ve been using the old version of contacts manager prior to ver 1.05 b (released 30^th August 2000):

If you previously downloaded softorganiser contacts manager (prior to 30^th August 2000), when you download this newer stage of the program you’ll need to start using the newer version of the database that is packaged with schedule manager. This is because of some mistakes I made with names in the database when I distributed the contacts manager. My apologies for this inconvenience… if you have contacts you want transferred across to the new program, you could do this one of two ways:

Manually by opening the old and new database in two different instances of Microsoft Access 97, and copy and paste from the old to the new.
If you don’t have Access 97 or can’t do this, if you email me your database file, I might be able to do it for you and email it back to you. If I had lots of people ask me to do this, I might even write a small program that copies data from the old database to a database in the new format, but at this stage, I don't think enough people have used the older version to warrant that.

For those that want to know the details, I named some fields with a used a minus sign instead of an underscore, (whoops!), and also used some names that were reserved words (that I hadn't come across before). The fields with name problems didn't cause problems until the second stage of the project, when I went to connect to the schedule table. Most parts of the database have been accessed by the program now, so this shouldn't happen again.
